Needs

The project was to create one waste water treatment plant for 3 villages in Alsace of a total of 1100 PE. The environment was very sensitive about ammonium and stormwater discharge.

Solution

Two stage reed bed filters, fed by pumping (land is flat, ruling out gravity feeding). There is no primary treatment; the raw, only coarse screened sewage is fed directly on the first stage beds. A stromwater storage tank has been created upstream of the reed bed filter to minimize stormwater impact on the environment.

Benefits

This solution allows for a high quality treatment of water, in compliance with European legislation
